This lot consists of two mid-20th-century games of British manufacture. The first is a Jokari racket set, featuring two paddles and an accessory box. The paddles are manufactured from shaped wood and bear the printed branding JŌKARI, featuring a macron over the letter O. The set includes a red cardboard box with matching branding, typically used to house the ball and elastic cord, seated within a buff-coloured cardboard inner tray. The second item is a Chad Valley Escalado mechanical horse racing board game. The cardboard box lid features multi-coloured lithographic graphics of a horse race and jockeys. The lid displays the title ESCALADO in yellow lettering along with the Chad Valley manufacturer’s mark. Text on the box describes the item as THE GREATEST RACE GAME OF ALL TIME and specifies the mechanical operation with the text TURN THE HANDLE THE HORSES REALLY MOVE.
