Lot 486: Two Italian Majolica-Style Glazed Ceramic Table Centrepieces
Two glazed ceramic table centrepieces in the style of Italian majolica, comprising a basket of oranges and a dish of lemons. The larger piece features a white ceramic openwork lattice-weave basket filled with a mould of brightly glazed yellow-orange oranges decorated with green leaves and small white blossoms. The smaller piece consists of a shallow white ceramic dish holding glazed yellow lemons with corresponding leaf and blossom details. Both decorative items exhibit a high-gloss glaze typical of mid-to-late 20th-century European art pottery, possibly of Italian origin. A paper auction label from Liskeard Auction Rooms is affixed to the basket. No maker marks are visible on the exterior or bases in the provided images.
