Lot 496: A Collection of Four Mid-Century Ceramic and Porcelain Items including Majolica Style Fruit Displays, a Blue Mountain Pottery Leopard, and a Dovbysh Figurine
A collection of four decorative mid-century ceramic and porcelain items. The lot contains two ‘Majolica’ style fruit displays: one arranged as a pyramid of mixed fruit including a banana, an orange, and plums with a high-gloss polychrome finish; the second as a cluster of lemons, several of which feature applied white ceramic blossoms with yellow centres. Also included is a ceramic crouching leopard figurine finished in a green and brown mottled drip glaze, in the style of Blue Mountain Pottery. The collection further features a slender porcelain figurine of a woman in a stylised pose, wearing a flared white gown decorated with hand-painted blue leaves and yellow berries, attributed to the Dovbysh factory. A handwritten cardboard lot card (V: 932) identifying the items is present with the group.
