Lot 584: A Limoges Cobalt Blue and Gilded Porcelain Circular Trinket Box
A Limoges porcelain circular trinket box and lid finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze. The lid features a central gilded scene depicting a courting couple in 18th-century attire, framed by a foliate and floral wreath. The scene is executed in the style of Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Both the lid and base exhibit thin gilded accents to the rims. The interior of both the base and lid is glazed in cobalt blue. The base is marked with a green backstamp featuring a laurel-leaf device above Limoges FRANCE. It also bears a reddish-brown overglaze mark reading Limoges France 530 C. A small gilded Limoges signature is present on the lid.
