Lot 617: A Trio of African Style Carved Decorative Figures
This lot comprises a trio of hand-carved decorative figures in the style of contemporary African curio or souvenir art. The collection includes a large stylized animal figure, possibly a hippopotamus, fashioned from a mid-brown hardwood with a polished finish and featuring inset blue-painted eyes. The second item is a small ebonised bust of a human head with a textured, tightly curled hairstyle and painted red, gold, and white bands to the neck. The third item is a small black-carved figure of a pig or hippopotamus. The items do not bear any visible maker’s marks or signatures. A white auction sticker marked Lot 617 is present.
