Lot 680: A Collection of Vintage Meccano Construction Sets including Set No. 3 and Clockwork Motor
A collection of vintage Meccano construction sets manufactured in the United Kingdom. The group features a Meccano Set No. 3, housed in its original polystyrene inner tray with a cardboard lid. The components consist of various perforated steel plates enamelled in yellow and blue, alongside zinc-plated metal strips and angled brackets. The set includes wheels fitted with black rubber tyres, a metal crank handle, and a screwdriver tool. A central compartment in the tray is marked Small Parts.
The lot also contains a boxed Meccano Clockwork Motor, which includes bands and a 1/2 inch pulley with boss. Accompanying the sets is a selection of original printed material, including a manual for Set No. 1, a Book of Models for Sets 2 and 3, and an additional instruction booklet for Set No. 1 featuring models such as a garden seat, coster’s barrow, and counter scales.
The cardboard packaging for Set No. 3 displays graphics for several models, including a fire escape and shipyard crane, and bears the text 200 parts for real working fun. The items are marked with auction house lot labels 678 and 680.
