Lot 83: Two Cornish Local Interest Signs for 2nd St Cleer Brownies and Butterfly Ball
This lot features two rectangular signs of local Cornish interest, likely dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The first sign is hand-painted for a Butterfly Ball, executed on a white-painted rigid board, possibly plywood or a similar composite. It displays the words BUTTERFLY BALL in red calligraphic script, accompanied by two hand-painted butterflies in a colour palette of green, yellow, and red. Faint pencil layout lines are visible beneath the painted lettering. The second sign is for the 2nd St Cleer Brownies and is finished with black serif block lettering. St Cleer is a village situated in Cornwall, UK. This sign prominently features the Girl Guides trefoil logo containing three G characters. Both items appear to have been salvaged from a community or village hall environment.
