Lot 87: A mid-20th century hand-cut lead crystal square spirit decanter
A square-sectioned spirits decanter, suitable for whisky or gin, manufactured from heavy lead crystal. The body features intricate geometric hand-cutting, including panels of starburst motifs and diamond-point cross-hatching, separated by deep vertical mitre-cut corners. The neck is faceted and terminates in a flared, plain rim. The original matching stopper is a heavy, multi-faceted sphere designed to refract light. The piece shows characteristic chromatic dispersion typical of high-quality lead crystal. No manufacturer marks are visible on the base or body. The style and quality are consistent with 20th-century British lead crystal manufacture.
Height: 24.5 cm (including stopper)
Width: 9 cm (at base).
