Lot 9: An Anglo-Indian Chased Plated Brass Dish in the Style of Benares Ware
An Anglo-Indian decorative brass dish of circular form, produced in the style commonly known as Benares ware. The piece features a shallow well densely decorated with hand-chased and engraved scrolling foliate and floral motifs radiating from a central floral medallion. The background is finely stippled to provide texture and highlight the decorative elements. The dish is finished with a distinctive jagged, scalloped rim and is supported by a short, plain circular foot. The underside exhibits a small circular centring indentation and currently bears an auction lot sticker reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 009. No maker marks or signatures are visible.
