Lot 277: A Collection of Chinese Blue and White Rice Grain Porcelain Plates and Saucers
A collection of Chinese porcelain plates and saucers of varying sizes, likely dating to the mid-to-late 20th century. The items are decorated with underglaze blue and feature the linglong or rice grain technique, where small perforations in the porcelain body are filled with clear glaze before firing to create translucent windows. The central decoration consists of a medallion depicting a five-clawed dragon amongst stylized clouds. The cavetto is decorated with the characteristic rice grain pattern, and the rim is finished with a geometric diaper-work border. The reverse of the items shows concentric blue lines at the rim. Visual inspection of the base of the saucer confirms that no maker marks or reign marks are present. This style of porcelain is characteristic of export wares produced in Jingdezhen.
