Lot 402: A hand-knotted wool Bokhara rug
This is a hand-knotted wool pile rug executed in the Bokhara style, commonly associated with weaving traditions in Pakistan or Afghanistan. The rug features a terracotta-red field populated by multiple rows of repeating octagonal gul medallions, also referred to as elephant-foot motifs. These patterns are rendered in a palette of cream and dark navy blue. The central field is enclosed within a complex border system consisting of several geometric guard stripes and a wider main border featuring interconnected rectangular and diamond-shaped motifs.
