Lot 409: A Group of Four Victorian and Later Brass and Glass Paraffin Oil Lamps
A collection of four paraffin oil lamps of varying designs and materials. The group includes a lamp with a faceted translucent green glass reservoir mounted on a cast metal openwork base with scroll decoration and a dark patinated finish, fitted with a single-wick burner and clear glass chimney. There are three brass examples: one features a simple polished bulbous font on a pedestal base with a single burner; another is a large weighted pedestal lamp featuring a Duplex burner with twin thumbwheels marked DUPLEX, complete with a clear chimney and a large white opal glass spherical globe; the final lamp has a stepped pedestal base and is also fitted with a Duplex burner and a clear glass chimney. The lamps retain their original paraffin-burning configuration and have not been electrified.
