Lot 598: A Victorian Pink Opaline Glass Mantle Lustre
A Victorian-style mantle lustre crafted from opaque pink glass with a satin finish. The upper bowl features a flared and scalloped rim in the form of a foliate bloom, decorated with hand-painted gilt floral and scroll motifs. The central cylindrical stem sits upon a domed circular base, which is also embellished with matching gilt scrollwork. Suspended from the rim are eight clear glass prismatic drops with faceted points, each attached to a smaller octagonal faceted glass button by metal wire loops. The main body is constructed from blown glass, while the prisms are machine-cut and polished. A modern auction label to the base reads HCP Auctions South West Lot 598.
