Lot 730: A Large Royal Doulton Alton Pattern Fine Bone China Dinner Service In Excellent Condition
A Royal Doulton fine bone china dinner service in the Alton pattern (H5055). The decoration consists of a central polychrome transfer-printed floral spray featuring roses and wildflowers in shades of pink, purple, and yellow. This is surrounded by an ornate border of golden-brown scrolling acanthus motifs interspersed with delicate garlands of pink and blue flowers. The pieces are finished with gilt rims and further gold-toned highlights to the handles and finials. The collection comprises four lidded circular tureens with scrolled handles, a large oval serving platter, and two sauce boats on separate stands. The service further includes sets of large dinner plates, rimmed soup bowls, dessert plates of two different sizes, and small side plates.
