A floor-standing mechanical wind-up gramophone housed in a dark-stained oak cabinet of Jacobean Revival design. The rectangular cabinet features a hinged lid opening to a playback deck fitted with a felt-covered turntable, a nickel-plated goose-neck style tonearm, and two metal needle cups. The front is detailed with two cupboard doors embellished with beaded rectangular mouldings and carved lozenge-patterned pilasters, secured with decorative metal drop-pull handles. The unit stands on four heavy bulbous turned legs connected by a shaped H-stretcher. Two small metal plates are fixed to the interior, although the text is not clearly legible. Accompanied by a 12-inch vinyl long-play record, Sunday and Everyday with Frank Sinatra, on the Capitol label (MFP 5005).
