Lot 802: A WWII British Air Ministry Wooden Storage Chest Dated 1941
A British military wooden storage chest of utilitarian plank construction, likely pine. The exterior has a weathered dark stained or painted finish. The chest is reinforced with iron corner brackets and features a heavy wooden cleat on the lid. It is fitted with iron strap hinges and a central iron hasp and staple latch. The underside of the lid is stencilled in black with a King’s Crown above the letters A.M. for the Air Ministry and the date 1941. The interior consists of plain, unpainted timber.
