Lot 856: An Austinsuite Mid-Century Teak Five-Drawer Chest of Drawers
A mid-century modern five-drawer chest of drawers manufactured by Austinsuite, London. The piece is finished in teak veneer with a prominent horizontal grain pattern. It features five drawers of equal or slightly graduated depth, each fitted with integral sculpted wooden recessed handles. The chest is supported by four tapered, splayed legs. The interior of one drawer bears a gold-coloured maker’s stamp within a rounded rectangular border, reading austinsuite, with the text MADE BY F. AUSTIN & SONS LTD LONDON below. The drawer interiors are constructed from a light-coloured secondary hardwood or plywood.
