Lot 865: A Hasegawa Sewing Machine Co. Universal Standard Hand-Crank Sewing Machine and Case
A vintage manual sewing machine produced by the Hasegawa Sewing Machine Co. of Japan. The machine features a black-enamelled metal body with a hand-crank mechanism and a turned wooden handle. The arm is decorated with gold-tone gothic script reading Hasegawa Sewing Machine Co. and Universal Standard on the top. A central heraldic crest on the pillar depicts two lions rampant flanking a shield under a crown, with Universal Standard written on a ribbon below. The machine includes ornate gold-coloured scrollwork borders and is marked MADE IN JAPAN in capital letters near the handwheel base. It is housed in a two-piece off-white plastic carrying case with a moulded handle, horizontal ribbing, and side latches. The case bears an auction label for HCP Auctions South West as Lot 865.
