Lot 1015: An Edwardian Mahogany and Inlaid Music Stool
An Edwardian mahogany and inlaid music stool in the Sheraton Revival style. The mahogany frame features boxwood stringing throughout. The backrest is constructed with slender vertical uprights and a central splat decorated with a neoclassical inlaid motif. Shaped arms lead down to a hinged seat which opens to reveal a shallow wooden storage compartment intended for sheet music. The seat is upholstered in a needlepoint fabric depicting a floral and foliate pattern in shades of cream, red, and blue. The underside of the lid is finished with green woven webbing. The piece is supported by four square-tapered legs with corresponding stringing details. The construction utilises mortise and tenon joinery for the frame and metal hinges for the seat access.
