Lot 1074: John Louw Mixed-Media Copper Relief Wall Plaque Depicting African Elephants
A large-format mixed-media relief wall plaque by artist John Louw, featuring a group of African elephants in a savannah landscape. The composition includes four high-relief figures: a dominant central bull elephant, a pair comprising a cow and calf to the left, and a solitary bull to the right. The relief elements are finished in a burnished copper tone and feature cream-coloured resin tusks. These figures are mounted onto an etched copper-plate background depicting indigenous trees and terrain. The work is presented in a deep-set, stepped wooden frame. The signature Louw is present in the lower right corner of the copper panel.
