Lot 14: A Vintage Tilley X246 Guardsman Paraffin Pressure Lantern
A Tilley X246 Guardsman liquid fuel pressure lantern of traditional British manufacture. The lantern is constructed with a red-enamelled metal hood positioned over a clear glass globe, which is enclosed within a protective four-rod steel wire cage. The base consists of a bulbous metal fuel fount with a gold-toned finish, featuring a side-mounted manual pressure pump and a central control valve. Designed to operate on paraffin. A red circular sticker reading HALF PRICE H/P is affixed to the glass globe. A white rectangular auction label for HCP Auctions South West, Lot 014, is present on the fount. No embossed maker’s marks are clearly visible.
