Lot 179: A Collection of Four Vintage British Paint and Varnish Tins
A group of four vintage domestic paint and varnish tins from traditional United Kingdom hardware brands. The collection comprises one tin of Finnigans Smoothkil Smooth Metal Finish in white, one tin of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint in smooth white, one tin of Dulux Non-Drip Varnish featuring the ICI roundel logo, and one tin of Blackfriar Polyurethane Stained Varnish in sapele shade. Each item consists of a cylindrical metal tin with an applied printed paper label. The Finnigans tin includes a yellow retail sticker for The Plymstock Hardware Centre, and the Blackfriar tin retains a vintage price sticker. The graphic design and logos indicate production during the mid-to-late 20th century.
