Lot 344: Late Victorian or Edwardian Stained Wood Fireplace Mantel with Integrated Stone Slip
This late Victorian or Edwardian fireplace mantel is constructed from dark-stained wood and incorporates an integrated stone slip. The design features classical revival motifs common to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The frieze is decorated with a central carved foliate scroll, while the jambs are ornamented with vertical fluting and topped with oval floral paterae. The integrated stone slip consists of a three-piece composite or terrazzo stone with a speckled cream and grey appearance.
