Lot 589: Pakistani Bokhara Hand-Knotted Wool Rug
A Pakistani Bokhara rug featuring a hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design consists of a central salmon-pink field decorated with a vertical row of five large, multi-lobed medallions, known as guls or elephant foot patterns. These motifs are detailed with black, cream, and red tones. The field is enclosed by multiple concentric borders, including a primary border of repeating octagonal motifs and secondary geometric guard stripes. One end features a wider terminal border with a diamond lattice pattern. The construction shows a dense, hand-knotted weave.
