Lot 592: A Trio of Wedgwood Ceramics including a 2003 Calendar Plate and Bone China Giftware
A trio of Wedgwood ceramic items comprising two pieces of bone china giftware and a commemorative calendar plate. The first item is a miniature oval basket in the Cascade pattern, featuring a twisted overhead handle and scalloped rim decorated with multi-coloured wildflower transfer prints. The basket base is marked with the Portland Vase logo, WEDGWOOD, Bone China, MADE IN ENGLAND, and CASCADE. The second item is a shallow dish modelled in the form of a scallop shell in the Clementine pattern (R4445), featuring a blue floral transfer print. The shell dish base is marked with the Portland Vase logo, WEDGWOOD, Bone China, MADE IN ENGLAND, CLEMENTINE, and R4445. The third item is a circular Queen’s Ware earthenware calendar plate for the year 2003, specially commissioned for the Daily Mail. The plate features a central calendar surrounded by a wide border depicting seasonal flora corresponding to the four seasons including daffodils, pansies, lilies, irises, berries, and holly. The reverse of the calendar plate is marked with the W logo, WEDGWOOD, ENGLAND 1759, QUEEN’S WARE, and text stating the commission for the Daily Mail alongside the newspaper masthead. The calendar plate includes its original blue card presentation box.
