Lot 604: A Collection of Gainsborough and Liling Porcelain Tea Wares and Decorative Items
A collection of porcelain and bone china items including two tea trios by Gainsborough and two tea trios from Liling. The Gainsborough trios, manufactured in England, are decorated with a foliate pattern in green and grey tones with silvered rims, marked to the base with the Gainsborough profile backstamp and pattern number B 07 1. The Liling trios feature the Nanjing pattern, decorated with blue floral sprays and black foliage against a white ground with silvered, scalloped rims. These pieces are marked with a green underglaze backstamp depicting a pagoda and mountains with Chinese characters for China Liling. The lot is completed by a group of decorative items featuring pink rose transfer patterns and gilded rims, including a footed bowl, a small candlestick, and a twin-pronged stand.
