Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises two decorative rectangular wall panels dating from the mid-20th century, featuring traditional Japanese landscape scenes. The panels are executed using a lacquer technique with raised relief composition elements representing trees, architecture, and geographical features. The upper panel depicts a mountainous landscape, including a prominent peak similar to Mount Fuji, with a multi-storey pagoda nestled among flowering cherry blossom trees and two small figures near a structure. The lower panel shows a similar landscape with a mountain peak, a traditional building complex with a bridge-like structure, and figures in the foreground near the water’s edge. Both scenes utilise a dark lacquer ground providing contrast to the pale tones of the mountains and the textured, raised elements of the foliage and buildings. The panels are housed in simple, dark-stained wooden frames with a slight reddish hue. An auction lot sticker is present on the frame of the top panel reading Lot 728 and a second small label shows the number 13. No maker’s marks, signatures, or seals are identifiable.
