Buyer's Premium:

A British World War II period Mark II steel helmet, commonly known as the Brodie pattern, configured for Civil Defence use. The helmet is constructed from a non-magnetic manganese steel shell with a stainless steel rim. The side of the shell features a hand-painted stencil in a faded pigment reading RP/G. The RP abbreviation identifies the wearer as a member of a Rescue Party, an essential branch of the Air Raid Precautions service responsible for recovering individuals from damaged structures. The G suffix denotes a specific local group or depot designation. The helmet retains its original internal liner assembly and an elasticated webbing chin strap attached to brass lugs. The exterior finish shows evidence of its original black paint, now largely obscured by surface oxidation.
