Lot 86: A Collection of Vintage British Tools and Hardware Including Rabone Chesterman, Picador, and Weller
An assortment of vintage mid-20th-century tools, hardware, and household ephemera, primarily of British manufacture. The group includes a large Rabone Chesterman circular tape measure with a maroon metal casing, marked Made in England. A Picador Green Grit silicon carbide grinding wheel is present in its original retail box, specified as size 4, 1/2 inch wide, with a square edge and a maximum speed of 5000 R.P.M. The lot contains a Weller grey plastic moulded carrying case for a soldering iron and a cast metal Roto-Saw hand tool embossed with design application number 865666. Plumbing equipment includes a red-painted pipe cutter, red-handled snips, and a boxed set of Bristan tap reviver lever heads. Abrasive components include several sharpening stones, one housed in a box from W. Swann and Co. Ltd., Penn Works, Sheffield. Household and automotive items comprise a yellow Kodak DK20 extra fine grain developer powder tin, a Meggeson Compound Glycerine of Thymol Pastilles tin with a red heraldic lion logo, a vintage Holts Dupli-Color auto spray aerosol, and a blue-covered Highway Code booklet. The collection is completed by a black plastic mounting bracket, a small wooden box of assorted hardware, and a plastic bag containing metal chain and rope.
