Lot 884: Late 19th Century Neoclassical Mahogany Demi-Lune Cellarette Table
A mahogany demi-lune cellarette table in the neoclassical style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece features a lift-top lid that opens to reveal a dual-purpose interior. One half is fitted with a metal-lined compartment, likely zinc or lead, intended for ice or wet storage, while the other side contains a mahogany-topped insert with twenty-one red felt-lined circular apertures for bottle storage. The curved front frieze is decorated with applied neoclassical motifs, including a central amphora-style urn flanked by draped swags. The table is supported by four square-section tapered legs. A small rectangular brass plaque is mounted to the front interior rim, with the word LONDON partially legible at the bottom right corner.
