Lot 913: Victorian Mahogany Pedestal Desk with Inset Writing Surface
A mahogany pedestal desk of rectangular form. The top features a wide mahogany border surrounding an inset writing surface, appearing to be a worn leather or skiver. The frieze is fitted with three drawers, each centred with a brass keyhole escutcheon. The desk is supported by two pedestals, each featuring a single large panelled cupboard door opening to interior storage. The drawers are constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints and the interiors have been lined with a green and white floral patterned paper. The desk lacks external drawer pulls or handles, indicating it was designed to be operated with keys. No keys are present.
