Lot 939: Antique Singer Treadle Sewing Machine with Five-Drawer Cabinet
A vintage Singer treadle sewing machine housed in a wooden cabinet with a cast-iron base. The black-enamelled machine head features gold-toned foliate decals and bears the manufacturer’s name, Singer, in gold script on the arm. A circular brass manufacturer’s emblem is present on the front of the pillar. The ornate cast-iron base includes a foot treadle and a central cross-brace with the word Singer cast in relief. The wooden cabinet is fitted with four side drawers and a central flip-down drawer, all finished with wooden pull knobs. The unit includes a flip-top extension leaf. A leather drive belt is not present, though a thin thread remains threaded through the machine. This item is located in the United Kingdom.
