Lot 950: A Vintage George VI British Utility Furniture CC41 Oak Chest of Drawers
A mid-20th-century British Utility Furniture chest of drawers, produced under the government Utility Furniture Scheme between 1942 and 1952. The chest is constructed from light oak and features a two-over-three drawer configuration, consisting of two short upper drawers above three full-width lower drawers. It retains its original circular turned wooden drawer knobs. The piece is marked with the official stamped CC41 “two cheeses” logo and the “G.R. VI.” stamp, denoting manufacture during the reign of King George VI. The design is characteristic of the period, prioritising functionalism and a lack of ornamentation.
