Lot 282: Late Victorian Dark Stained Wood Fireplace Mantel Surround
A late Victorian or Edwardian dark-stained hardwood fireplace mantel surround. The structure features a wide, moulded top shelf above a frieze divided into three sections. The central panel is embellished with an applied foliate and C-scroll rococo-style carving. Flanking the frieze are two pilasters, each decorated with vertical fluting and capped with an oval patera depicting a stylised sunflower motif. The construction is solid wood with a dark varnish finish. A white lot tag bearing the number 282 is present on the side of the shelf.
