Lot 396: A Collection of Wooden Organ Flue Pipes
An assortment of wooden organ flue pipes of rectangular construction, likely comprising a portion of a rank from a pipe organ. The resonators are crafted from a light-toned softwood, while the blocks and caps surrounding the mouth areas are made from a contrasting darker hardwood. Each pipe terminates in a turned and tapered wooden toe designed for seating into an organ windchest. Several pipes are fitted with metal tuning shades at the upper end, likely composed of a lead or tin alloy. The items are contained within a cardboard shipping box bearing a lot sticker for Lot 396 and a barcode label. No maker’s marks, signatures, or stamps are visible on the pipes.
