Lot 457: An Assortment of Decorative Carved Wooden Items Including a West African Style Mask and a Pine Drawer Unit
A collection of decorative carved wooden objects and small domestic items. The group is headlined by a large hand-carved mask in a West African style, featuring an elongated face, prominent brow, and almond-shaped eye slits. The lot includes a rectangular wooden tray with an intricately carved foliate gallery and a central white-toned floral motif, possibly paint or bone inlay. Also present is a horizontal pine chest containing six small drawers, each originally fitted with a turned wooden knob. Further items include a set of wooden fireplace bellows with a black leather-effect gusset secured by brass-toned metal studs, and a turned wooden vase or pedestal featuring incised geometric patterns. The collection is completed by a carved and painted wooden turtle figure featuring green speckled patterns, red-painted eyes, and a circular recess to the shell, alongside a small turned wooden hand tool.
