Lot 459: A Trio of Decorative Cobalt Blue and Gilt Ceramic Vessels
A trio of decorative ceramic vessels featuring cobalt blue and dark navy glazes with gilt-tone embellishments. The collection includes a Japanese hexagonal porcelain vase with a dark navy blue glaze, decorated with a transfer-printed motif of a white crane in flight among pine branches and red berries, highlighted with fine gilt detailing. The second item is a twin-handled porcelain urn with a cobalt blue ground and a scalloped rim. It features a central oval reserve containing a transfer-printed neoclassical scene of four figures in draped garments, with heavy gilding to the handles and borders. The third item is a flattened ovoid ceramic flask with two raised rings to the long neck, finished in a cobalt blue glaze. The body features an oval reserve depicting a man and woman in eighteenth-century style dress within a landscape, framed by gilt scrollwork. An illegible gold-tone mark is present on the underside of the flask.
