Lot 480: A Mid-Century Modern Teak-Cased Canteen of Bronze and Wood Cutlery
A comprehensive Mid-Century Modern canteen of cutlery contained within a rectangular teak-cased chest. The case is constructed with flat-cut teak veneers and is fitted with brass-toned hinges and a front latch. The interior is lined with vibrant red flocking and features slotted wooden racks to secure the pieces. The cutlery handles are crafted from solid wood, possibly rosewood, and are capped with brass ferrules that complement the bronze heads. The service includes a variety of serving pieces, such as ladles, a cake server, and salad servers, alongside multiple place settings of knives, forks, and spoons. A yellow informational insert is present, which describes the properties of the bronze alloy used for the set.
