Lot 507: An Assortment of Mid-20th-Century Ladies' Millinery
An assortment of mid-20th-century ladies’ hats featuring a variety of styles and materials, dating from circa 1940 to 1960. The collection includes a navy blue hat constructed from synthetic woven mesh, decorated with a large tonal fabric flower, green fabric leaves, and green plastic-coated wire stems, finished with a navy grosgrain ribbon edge and fine navy netting. A second hat features a rounded crown of rich brown short-pile velvet joined to a wide, flared brim of stiffened dark open-weave mesh. The collection also contains a monochrome hat comprising a black fabric crown and a white brim entirely overlaid with black diamond-patterned birdcage netting and finished with a black and white striped ribbon band. A turquoise fabric hat is finished with white piping along the edge and a decorative white mesh architectural detail to the side. Materials include synthetic woven mesh, velvet, fabric, and netting.
