Lot 529: A Collection of Five Novelty Earthenware Teapots
A collection of five novelty earthenware teapots, each designed in various architectural and domestic forms. The group includes a half-timbered Tudor-style building with a cream thatched-effect roof, featuring signage for VILLAGE TEA SHOP, FRESH SANDWICHES, and CREAM TEAS. Also included is a shop building with beige walls and a bay window inscribed The Tea Shop, and a highly detailed teapot shaped like a kitchen dresser with a lid featuring moulded miniature plates and baskets. The collection is completed by a cottage with an orange-tiled roof and a town house with blue-shuttered windows and a dark brown roof. All pieces are crafted from glazed earthenware with hand-painted polychrome decoration over moulded details. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior bodies of the items.
