Lot 571: A Collection of Chinese and Japanese Porcelain Plates and Chargers
A collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain plates and chargers dating from the late 19th to the 20th centuries. The group includes Chinese Famille Rose porcelain dishes, notably one example depicting figures riding a dragon and a phoenix among auspicious clouds, and a yellow-ground plate decorated with long-tailed birds and peonies. Other Chinese pieces feature figural scenes of scholars and ladies in garden landscapes. The Japanese porcelain comprises Imari-style chargers and plates, exhibiting characteristic underglaze blue, iron red, and gilded highlights in foliate and floral patterns. The pieces are constructed from white porcelain with underglaze and overglaze decorative techniques. A lot label from HCP Auctions South West (Lot 571) and a handwritten inventory note (V: 932) are present.
