Lot 600: An Assortment of Chinese Porcelain and Ceramic Wares including Novelty Teapots and Cat-Form Tablewares
A collection of Chinese-style glazed porcelain and ceramic items featuring various decorative motifs and figural forms. The dining set consists of six porcelain bowls of two sizes with matching porcelain spoons, decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamel medallions depicting a boy figure alongside red circular medallions containing stylized Chinese characters, including 常 (Chang) and 寿 (Shou), surrounded by floral sprays and gilded rims. The lot includes two hand-painted novelty ceramic teapots of animal form: one modelled as a seated cat with orange and black floral and cross-hatch decoration, and another of whimsical form featuring large circular eye motifs and polychrome dash decorations. Also present is a tall, slender porcelain cat figurine decorated in the Chinoiserie style with pink floral sprays and blue lattice-work panels. Complementing the collection are four blue and white glazed ceramic cat-form chopstick rests and a small cobalt blue glazed mug featuring gilded scrollwork highlights. No factory backstamps are visible on the pieces.
