Lot 751: Blaise Junior (Haitian, 20th Century) 'Verdant Vendors' (Signed)
This framed painting, executed in a modernist graphic style characteristic of Haitian folk art, depicts three stylized figures with elongated limbs carrying baskets laden with oversized tropical fruit, including mangoes and watermelons. The composition uses flat, vibrant planes of colour and bold outlines. The work is signed Blaise Junior in white script within a basket element to the right. The medium is gouache or acrylic on board or paper. It is presented in a modern, light-toned wood frame under glass with a cream-coloured mount.
