Lot 81: Two Reclaimed Antique Painted Wooden Interior Doors
This lot comprises two reclaimed wooden interior doors dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, consistent with Victorian and Edwardian domestic styles. The first door is a six-panel configuration finished in white paint. The paint surface is heavily distressed and flaking, revealing the underlying softwood timber. It retains a single circular brass door knob which is heavily patinated and oxidized. The door features several visible apertures from removed hardware, including a keyhole and a central spindle hole which bears a circular green mark from a previous fitting. A small white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the top left corner with the handwritten numbers 66719. The second door is a four-panel design finished in cream-coloured paint, consisting of two long vertical upper panels and two smaller lower panels. One vertical edge features a large recessed mortise where a lock set was previously installed, exposing the raw wood. A white adhesive label is present at the top left corner bearing the numbers 66717. Both doors are constructed using traditional stile and rail methods. No manufacturer names, stamps, or marks are readable on either item.
