Lot 867: Mid-20th Century English Oak Linenfold Fall-Front Bureau
A mid-20th century English oak fall-front bureau chest in the Tudor Revival style. The exterior is constructed from dark-stained oak and features a fall-front top decorated with two panels of carved linenfold. This opens to reveal a fitted interior comprising five central vertical pigeonholes, two small drawers, and two open shelves, all situated above a red faux-leather writing skiver. The lower chest section contains two short drawers separated by a central decorative linenfold carved panel, situated above two long, full-width drawers. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints and have plywood bases. The piece is fitted with turned wooden pull knobs. The fall-front is supported by internal steel slide stays and brass butt hinges. A rectangular label is present on the top right corner of the carcass, though the text is not clearly legible.
