Lot 201: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1922 AEC S Type Bus
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1922 AEC S Type bus, constructed from die-cast metal with plastic components. The red double-decker open-top body features brown plastic slatted seating to both levels and a detailed spiral staircase at the rear. The side panels are decorated with black and white advertising decals for Schweppes Tonic Water, accompanied by the General logo on the lower side panels. Destination boards are printed with a route to Hither Green Stn via Paddington Stn, Victoria Stn, Camberwell Gn, New + Gate, and Lewisham Catford. The vehicle is fitted with red spoked wheels and black solid tyres. The black underside of the chassis is embossed with the Matchbox lozenge logo and reads Models of Yesteryear, A.E.C. S Type Bus – 1922, Lesney Products P.L.C., Made in England © 1982, and Y23. The model is housed in its original straw-coloured window box, which features a yellow adhesive price sticker reading £3.50 and a white lot label marked 201 from HCP Auctions South West.
