Lot 216: A Vintage Matchbox Die-Cast Ford Model 'T' Spratt's Van
A vintage Matchbox die-cast Ford Model ‘T’ Spratt’s van, produced as part of the Models of Yesteryear series. The vehicle features a maroon-red body with dark brown mudguards and chassis, complemented by a cream-coloured plastic roof. The front is detailed with chrome-plated plastic components including the radiator grille, headlights, and bumper. The sides carry clear decals for Spratt’s dog food, advertising Bonio, Ovals, and Weetmeet products. The model sits on free-rolling silver-spoked wheels with black plastic tyres. The dark brown chassis base bears moulded inscriptions including the Matchbox logo, MADE IN ENGLAND, Y-21, MODELS OF YESTERYEAR, FORD MODEL ‘T’, and © 1981 MATCHBOX INTL LTD. A small silver-stamped number 20 appears near the rear bumper. The item is accompanied by an original gold window box, which is mismatched, being printed with identification for a Y-5 1922 Talbot and 1927 Talbot. A white adhesive label from HCP Auctions South West for Lot 216 is applied to the plastic window.
