Lot 1021: An Antique Late Victorian Mahogany Writing Table and Vintage Spindle-Back Chair
An antique late Victorian mahogany writing table and vintage spindle-back chair. The mahogany writing table is designed with an rectangular inset leather writing surface featuring a tooled border, set within a wooden frame with rounded corners. The frieze is fitted with two drawers featuring turned wooden pulls and includes two central keyholes. The piece is supported by four turned and tapered legs terminating in brass casters. A white adhesive inventory label is applied to the side rail, reading ‘1021’. The accompanying vintage chair is a spindle-back farmhouse design in a honey-toned light wood. It features six turned spindles beneath a thick curved top rail and a shaped solid seat, standing on turned legs connected by stretchers. A pink circular adhesive label is attached to the top rail, reading ’32’.

The writing table\'s leather top is in poor condition, showing significant surface wear, scuffing, and discoloration (photo 1). The mahogany woodwork exhibits numerous scuffs, scratches, and areas of finish loss, particularly to the edges and legs (photo 2). One keyhole is missing its brass escutcheon (photo 2). The chair shows moderate surface wear, with scuffing and finish loss to the top rail and seat edges (photo 3).
