Lot 1041: An Antique Victorian Mahogany Twin Pedestal Desk
An antique Victorian mahogany twin pedestal desk, constructed with a rectangular top featuring an inset red leather skiver. The desk is configured with a central frieze drawer positioned above a kneehole, flanked by two pedestals each containing three graduated drawers. Primary construction is in mahogany with secondary woods appearing to be pine or deal. The drawer fronts are equipped with turned mahogany mushroom-shaped knobs and inset brass escutcheons. A pink circular adhesive lot sticker with the handwritten number 32 is present on the upper left drawer face. A white card string tag is attached to a knob, though the text is not legible. No maker marks or stamps are visible.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The desk is in poor to fair condition. Extensive surface wear is present across all mahogany sections, including deep scratches, scuffs, and loss of the polished finish (photos 1 and 2). The inset red leather skiver is heavily worn and stained (photo 2). One pedestal is loose or misaligned from the top section (photo 1). There are multiple chips and bruises to the timber on the corners and edges of the drawer fronts and pedestals (photo 3).
