Buyer's Premium:

A vintage Hermle mahogany grandfather clock of traditional longcase form, featuring a mechanical three-train weight-driven movement. The case is constructed from mahogany-finished wood with polished veneers, featuring a hood with an arched top and a glazed door set on brass hinges. The trunk contains a long, arched glazed door revealing the weights and pendulum, leading down to a stepped plinth base decorated with a boxwood-style inlay border. The clock features a composite dial with a silvered chapter ring, black Roman numerals, and an outer minute track, accented by gilt-brass scrollwork spandrels at the corners. The central gilt section houses three winding arbors and three sub-dials. In the arch is a rotating moon phase disc showing two lunar faces and celestial maps against a 29 ½ day scale. The dial is printed with the maker’s name HERMLE in black characters on the uppermost central sub-dial, with the text MADE IN GERMANY appearing below. The movement is complete with three brass-cased weights and a large circular brass pendulum. A white adhesive lot tag reading 1102 is affixed to the hood door.

Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.

Condition report:

The clock is in good cosmetic condition with signs of age-appropriate wear. The mahogany-finished case shows surface dust throughout, and there are several light scuffs and minor scratches visible on the lower edges of the base (photo 3). The glazed panels to the hood and trunk appear intact with no visible cracks or damage. The pendulum is currently secured with white tape to the back of the case for transport (photo 2), and one weight hook features a protective tie (photo 2). The mechanical movement is untested.
